The Road Forward

The Forest Products Roadmap is a collaborative approach by industry and government to make Alberta’s forest sector the most successful in North America, based on economic competitiveness and environmental performance. The Roadmap is aimed at achieving growth, progress and long-term viability in Alberta's forest products industry, enhanced contributions to rural communities and the province at large, and green solutions to environmental and economic challenges.

A roadmap is as good as the action plans which accompany it. While the Roadmap provides a statement of where we are headed, the action plans will determine how we get there.

We have teams working on these issues:

  • Strategic Communication and Advocacy for the Sector in the community, government and with other sectors
  • Market Expansion
  • Workforce Development and Labour
  • Trucking and Transport Issues
  • Energy as an Opportunity and a Cost
  • Access to Fibre and Fibre Utilization
  • Innovation Systems and Support
  • Eco-Systems Services

Each will develop concrete and specific action plans and metrics and track developments.
